KGW shares the story!  “Portland man buys new walker for stranger in act of kindness”

“Finding these unique opportunities to pay it forward because that’s what Matt would have done. Matt would have saw him and frankly Matt would have probably done it quicker than I have,” Adam Gulledge said.

Backstory:  Adam and Matt both started off their careers at a financial firm in downtown Portland, OR.  They met and became friends.  In the time following Matt’s diagnosis with colon cancer- Adam and his fiancé, Michelle, routinely brought meals to our family during chemo therapy treatments, engaged in supporting friend and family activities, and Adam participated in every Live Moore event as the documenting photographer.  I can honestly say these friends showed up for us during the hardest time in our life!

What I did not know is how moved Adam was by Matt’s journey and message through the Live Moore Challenge to give back to others.  Thank you Adam for your kindness and generosity!!!

Nikki & Matt Moore; In the Media:

We sat down with Nikki Moore to learn more about her family’s journey with colon cancer and how their lifestyle apparel brand is carrying on her husband’s legacy and encouraging others to “Live Moore.”

Can you share a little bit about Matt’s diagnosis and how it impacted your family?

I was 7 months pregnant when my husband, Matt, was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. He was 32. We switched over to OHSU for care and he started chemotherapy just nine days before our son was born. He was doing chemo every three weeks, with his second round starting in February 2016 when our son, Cullen, was just 2 weeks old.

When you’re 32 years old, happily married to the most amazing partner and expecting your first child, you don’t expect to be told you have cancer – and definitely not a late stage cancer. That was not in the plan. It’s the scariest, most shocking news you could ever face.

But then you do face it. You fight it together, and all of a sudden, you see the world differently.

How did Matt’s journey change your perspective?

Faces of Blue: Matt Moore

We met in college selling shoes at a department store. Late closing shifts led to lots of talking about life. We soon became really good friends and fell in love. Together we listened to our college professors teach about the world, we were taught by our peers about social norms, and we dreamed big. The world was at our fingertips.

We did what we were “supposed” to: we graduated from college, went to grad school, began working, bought a home, and discovered what it was like to “adult.” Then the “quarter-life crisis” hit for both of us. Suddenly our talks turned to “this is it?!” We were both miserable. After a year of misery, corporate frustration, and lots of tears, we had a “come to Jesus talk” and developed a plan.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Nikki. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
It was June 2015 and life was in full swing. Our personal, professional, and familial goals we had dreamt of since the start of our relationship, at 20 years old, were beginning to unfold.

NIKKI’S STORY

It was June of 2015 and life was in full swing.  We had two businesses; Matt was running his financial firm and I was running my mental health therapy private practice. We had a condo DIY kitchen renovation in progress and we found out we were going to have a baby! Our personal, professional, and familial goals that we dreamt of since the start of our relationship, at 20 years old, were beginning to unfold.

One night in August, during an indoor soccer game, Matt broke his big toe.  With his lingering physical ailment and an increase in work stressors, things began to change for Matt.
